1800 Tequila

1800 Tequila:

SAYING IT ALL

WITHOUT SAYING A WORD.

Named for the first year tequila was produced, 1800® Tequila doesn’t rely on smoke and mirrors – it embraces the authentic roots and heritage that have contributed so greatly to the smooth, rich taste it has become synonymous with.

That’s why the brand continues to employ its original distillation process, using authentic masonry kilns and copper pot stills.

The age-old traditional formula is crafted with Weber Blue Agave plants grown in the mineral-rich volcanic soil of Jalisco, Mexico, and aged for eight to twelve years before they’re handpicked.

The bottles that end up on the shelves contain the same quality tequila as every bottle that has left the distillery for centuries.

Not all Tequilas and Mezcal's are made equal! Your basic Tequila only has to contain 51% Agave and your standard Mezcal only 80%. Don Juan is made from 100% Blue Agave and when you have a sip you will understand the difference this core ingredient can make.

Espolan

Espolon Tequila has been winning some impressive awards at international competitions during that tenure. Like any tequila that’s worth your time, Espolon is 100% agave, and it’s made where all pure agave tequila is made, in Los Altos (the highlands), Jalisco.

You have two options of Espolon to chose from, the Blanco and the Reposado. They’re the same tequilas, made by the same process, but the Blanco is rested in stainless steel for a few months, while the Reposado is rested in American oak barrels for six months.

The Blanco has a slightly sweet nose with a hint of pine and tropical fruit. It’s subtle, and the nose disappears almost entirely once you pour it on ice. There’s an undeniable heat to this tequila when you drink it on the rocks, and the agave takes a prominent role in the profile, followed by a peppery finish.

The Reposado has more of a roasted flavor, and picks up some notes of char and caramel from the time it spends hanging out in American oak. Neither tequila is as smooth as some of the other pure agaves that you’ll find on the market today. It’s not necessarily a bad sipper, but this tequila, intense and vibrant, was really made for cocktails. Espolon makes a big deal out of the wild, experimental concoctions that its bartenders and fans create using the Blanco and Resosado,

Jose Cuervo

Jose Cuervo Gold is the world's most popular tequila. The 'gold standard' by which others are judged. Cuervo Gold is a smooth tequila, with a slightly sweet-seeming taste. It is a blend of premium and reposado tequilas. The tequila has been rested in oak for a minimum of two months, which gives it its amber hue.

Fortaleza - Tequila

October 21, 2015 Ray Rogers

Fortaleza is made by fifth-generation tequilero Guillermo Sauza (yes, that Sauza, though the family sold off its eponymous brand decades ago), who in the 1990s sought to re-create the tequila his great-great-grandfather made a century before.
